Q & A:

Tiff format

TIFF file formats are “lossless” with no compression giving you a photo scan with no quality lost and allows for editing and manipulating for later use if you choose. Best for archiving photos “ You never know if you will want to go in grab a keeper or favorite photo years later.” And find you only made a jpg. And can’t change it after the original slide has gone bad!” While they take up more space, Space these days is easily available on DVD data and portable hard drives that are reasonably priced.

Processed Vs. Natural:

Processed: for viewing and image enhancement a processed look will in most cases improve the color and overall picture restoring the lost quality. Unless you are professional who wants to adjust every slide manually to get their perfect look We suggest using a Processed format.

Natural: This is the unmodified image before image enhancements have been applied to it. Professional printers will require a non-processed image.

Filters used on old slides:

Kodachrome filter: slides that have the Kodachrome by Kodak will be scanned using the Kodachrome filter.

Shipping:

We do not accept carousels of your slides. However, we DO ACCEPT 35 mm slide storage boxes that make for secure shipping and storage of your slides.

They must be shipped in order and clearly labeled. Securely labeled in order. We are no responsibility of mishandled damaged slides that come to us in the mail. Follow proper shipping instructions to avoid this.

Each section must be clearly labeled with section of slides name and number of set.

example: Dave’s wedding 1 of 23 : slide count 140
Up North 2 of 23: slide count 85

To help you with this task we suggest on purchasing storage boxes for your to ship them to us. This also makes for easy storage of your slides instead of bulky carousels taking up much needed closet space!

Do not use rubber bands they will bend the slides making it hard for the machine to scan.

WE take of :

  • Organization divided into digital folders with names on each folder
  • Slides numbered from with the first slide #001-#000 max. for each section of slides
